Pupils are treated to a performance of Oyster Boy

Lucky pupils at Bringhurst Primary School were enthralled and entertained by a production of Oyster Boy.

The academy was delighted to welcome back former Bringhurst pupil, Sophie Taylor, as part of the visit from Haste Theatre Company.

Oyster Boy is a dark comedy which tells the story of a boy who is born with an Oyster-shell-shaped head and his parents struggle to raise their extraordinary son.

With this entertaining, multilingual production, pupils were invited into the fairy tale-like world of the show. This included a range of larger-than-life characters that told the story through a rich blend of physical storytelling, live choral singing, clown, dance and puppetry.

Angela Watson, Headteacher at Bringhurst Primary School, said: “This has been a fantastic experience for our pupils.

“Not only have they had a chance to watch such a clever performance, but they have been able to further explore their imagination and participate in thought-provoking post show discussions to express their views.”
