Food
At Bringhurst we are fortunate in being able to provide a hot meal each day, with a choice of both main course and sweet.
At our school, promoting healthy eating is an important part of our overall wellbeing strategy. We believe that good nutrition supports children’s physical health, emotional wellbeing and ability to learn effectively.
Throughout the school day, we actively encourage healthy food choices. Children are supported in understanding the benefits of a balanced diet through our curriculum, themed wellbeing activities and positive daily routines. Lunchtimes are seen as an opportunity to model healthy habits and develop independence around food choices.
We also ask parents and carers to support us by providing healthy snacks from home. Fresh fruit, vegetables and other nutritious options help maintain energy levels and concentration, enabling children to make the most of their learning. Sugary drinks and high-fat, high-sugar snacks are discouraged as part of our commitment to promoting long-term healthy habits.
By working in partnership with families, we aim to create a culture where healthy eating is valued, understood and embedded as a lifelong skill.
The school is part of the National Fruit Scheme which provides a piece of fruit daily for all Key Stage 1 children.
