Bringhurst Primary School

Bringhurst Primary School is committed to ensuring that all pupils gain maximum benefit from their time with us.

Pupil Premium

The pupil premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

The Government provides academies and schools with additional funding to help reduce inequalities and gaps in attainment between those students who are on free school meals (FSM) and their peers.

This funding is called the Pupil Premium.

Every academy and school can select how they choose to use their Pupil Premium allocation, as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for students. Every school needs to be held accountable for how this money is spent, which is why we make details of how it is used available on our website.

The full report can be downloaded below.

Sports Premium Funding

Schools have the flexibility to use the Sports Premium funding to best support their PE and sport provision. For 2024–2025, our aim is to improve the quality of teaching, increase participation, and promote healthy, active lifestyles across the school.

Our planned use of the funding aligns with the five key indicators from the Department for Education:

  1. Increasing staff confidence and skills in teaching PE – through training and support from specialists.

  2. Engaging all pupils in regular physical activity – increasing opportunities for daily physical activity.

  3. Raising the profile of PE and sport across the school – using sport to support whole-school development.

  4. Offering a broader range of sports and activities – to engage more pupils in physical activity.

  5. Increasing participation in competitive sport – through internal and external competitions.

These priorities guide our decisions to ensure a lasting impact on pupils’ physical and emotional wellbeing.
